How to Choose the Right Size Mermaid Tail for Your Child

One of the most common questions we get at Mini Mermaid Tails is: "Which size should I order?" Get it right and your little mermaid will be swimming happily within minutes. Get it wrong and you're dealing with a return — which nobody wants!

The good news is that sizing our tails is straightforward once you know what to look for. This guide walks you through everything you need to know, including our special toddler and teen sizes!

📏 The Golden Rule: Size by Height, Not Age

This is the single most important thing to know. Always size by your child's height in centimetres, not their age. Age ranges on clothing are notoriously inconsistent — a tall 5-year-old may need the same size as an average 7-year-old.

Our tails are designed to fit snugly but comfortably. A tail that's too big will slip down and make swimming difficult. A tail that's too small will be uncomfortable and restrict movement.
