We always recommend choosing by your child's height in cm rather than their age — children of the same age can vary enormously in size! Use the size chart below as your guide:

Our tails come in sizes for children aged 3 to 16 years. However, please note that for swimming use, we recommend tails for confident swimmers aged 7+ with adult supervision. Younger children can still enjoy them for dress-up and cosplay!

If your child is between sizes, we recommend sizing up. The tails are stretchy so a slightly larger size will still fit well and allows room to grow. A tail that's too small will be uncomfortable to get on and off.

We highly recommend adding a monofin — and not just for swimming! Here's why:

• 🏊‍♀️ For swimming: The monofin enables the dolphin kick technique that makes the tail propel through the water like a real mermaid
• 🎭 For dress-up & cosplay: The monofin gives the end of the tail structure and shape — without it the tail can look flat and floppy. With it, your little mermaid gets that beautiful, flowing tail shape!
• 📸 For photos: Makes the tail look stunning in photoshoots both in and out of the water

The monofin is available as a separate purchase. You can add it to your order when shopping for your tail. We recommend adding one at the same time so your little mermaid has the complete experience from day one!
